What path bought you to Kids Instyle?
We have been toying with the idea of showing at Kids Instyle for a number of years now while exhibiting at other trade fairs, and many retailers actually recommended this show as the one best suited to our collections. We are very excited to finally have arrived here and we’re very much looking forward to showing our products in such a beautiful environment.

A typical day at work involves…
After just moving to a new combined warehouse and office which was a big job and is quite a change for us, I am not quite sure yet what a typical day will be – or if there actually is such a thing.

My style is best described as…
Down to earth, passionate, and with attention to detail (probably a bit of a perfectionist really, not sure if that is good or bad…)

I get my best business ideas by…
Talking things through with friends, colleagues, customers – and with my kids! I also get inspired by my travels.

Right now I’m working on…
The launch of a gorgeous new brand into the Australian market – more details to be revealed soon! 

Our story:
We specialise in beautifully made European products – these include wooden and organic cotton toys for babies and toddlers, an extensive and diverse collection of gifts and toys for boys and girls aged 3-12, and a fantastic range of natural craft sets and materials. What matters to us is that the products are superbly designed, of great quality, with a point of difference and, most importantly of course, are something that kids will just love.

What is your background?
Studied international commerce and business and spent a number of years working for international companies in the information and financial markets sector. When I had my second child I decided that I would prefer spending time with my kids over continuing to pursue a corporate career. While this was wonderful in many ways, I soon realised though that I needed more and different challenges at the same time and ventured out to set up a business that would allow me to have both. And with my European background and my newly acquired knowledge of all things kids it seemed like the perfect idea to start a business importing and distributing lovely European toys.

What are your favourite trends at the moment?
I love the current revival of all things retro and classic as well as the fact that an increasing number of toys are made from natural materials, with respect for the environment and under fair-trade conditions.

What’s the best thing about what you do?
That I get to select and to spend my time around gorgeous products. The highlight is when I happen to see a child playing with one of our toys. It’s an incredible feeling to think ‘we picked that and shipped it over here and delivered it to the store where this was bought’. Might sound silly but I love it!

What exciting things can readers expect to see at the upcoming show?
Lots of great new products from our European brands Spiegelburg, Hess-Spielzeug, Keptin-Jr and PlayMais. Stand-outs include the new ‘Pipa Lupina’ collection – a range of nature inspired toys and gifts for girls by Spiegelburg, ‘Nature Zoom’ adventure toys, also by Spiegelburg, gorgeous wooden clocks by Hess-Spielzeug; new Mosaics sets by PlayMais, new and simply divine plush toys by Spiegelburg, plus an adorable new brand from Scandinavia!

Best piece of advice you’ve been given…
It came from a fortune cookie: “If there’s a problem, fix it.”
