Being in the retail industry for over 25 years, Melissa and Jetona from The Lot Co have seen it all and done it all. We sat in on their Conversation Series session at Life Instyle Melbourne and here are their top tips for understanding your customer better.
- Customer Data – Keeping records of what they buy and how many can help you buy right for what your customer actually wants.
- Really drill deep into who you customer exactly is. Ask the following questions – Who is your shopper? What are they doing? How old are they? Define your customer in 10 words or less.
- Make sure you have product variety and differing price points within your store so it captures the attention of anyone who walks through your door.
- You must be really educated about your product and the story behind to pass on to your customer and allow them to immerse themselves into the experience.
The Lot Co Top Tips: Create signage with your logo and aesthetic that displays sale sections, new arrivals or even a trend section to further emphasise the experience to your customer. Don’t assume your customer is the same as you and shares your same values. You must do the research into your customer to find out exactly who your store services.
