With the start of a new year often comes a feeling of change, and one of the easiest changes to make is within your home. They say that a change is as good as a holiday, and with a shift in your interior design, you can recreate your home space to give you a new lease on life in 2017.

Interior Designer Claire Cau-Cecile of Twofold Projects and one of the original co-founders of Life Instyle, has pinpointed the following trends as key in the coming year, and to be on show at this year’s Life Instyle event:

BAREFOOT GYPSYMURKANI

Tribal/ Boho: the mixture of tribal patterns and textures of the boho luxe or chic look will be still in favour in 2017. What makes this trend so wonderful is the celebration of craftsmanship and cultural differences that results in the strong use of patterns, striking colours, and layering and embellishments that tribal and boho are known for.

At Life Instyle, look out for Barefoot Gypsy homewares, which supports local artisans from around the world, and Murkani, originally designed handmade jewellery with design influences taken from ancient art, architecture and textiles of exotic locales such as Morocco, India, and Turkey.

CAPTAIN ROBBOCLEMENTINE & THREAD

Personalised creations: getting involved personally and creatively with the process of a finished product remains popular, and has transferred beyond colouring books this year.

Australian brand Captain Robbo takes the concept to the next level with their Colour In Your Own Adventure Pants – which literally allow you to colour in your own clothing, making you part of the design process. Another Life Instyle exhibitor Clementine and Thread – a self-professed indie design business – creates modern DIY embroidery kits with artisan hand dyed yarn,  making a crafter of anyone!

WHITE MOOSESTONEMEN

Whimsy and escapism: interior styling lightens up with this one, keeping it free spirited and fun. Showcase your fun side through the likes of White Moose‘s unicorn head – wonderful as a left of centre wall feature piece for your wall. Many of the White Moose pieces are unconventional and great conversations starters. If you prefer to keep your whimsical side hidden, underwear that tells a story may be the perfect option. Stonemen‘s printed underwear lets you act on your playful side, but your house guests won’t ever know!
