They won’t promote your dreams, their scents won’t transport you to a medina in Morocco and they are not into whimsical fantasy but what Ashley & Co. products can provide for you is a plethora of incredibly luxurious products from this modern day scent company. Today we chat with crew behind Ashley & Co. about how they came about and what is to come.
- How did the inception of your business come about?
Like a lot of small businesses, Ashley & Co started with a need to do something more — something for yourself, and thinking ahead, something that you can grow while growing a family. 10 years ago the home fragrance market here at the time was limited to room sprays and mainly paraffin based candles. With Ben’s background in graphic design, and my passion for interiors and scents we developed our first run of Home Perfume reed diffusers. A highly fragrant yet flammable batch that has thankfully since evolved!

- What made you want to exhibit at Life Instyle Sydney 2016?
We exhibited last year at Reed Gift Fair in Melbourne and were overwhelmed with the response. This year, Life Instyle gave us the opportunity to concentrate our focus on niche retailers whom we feel were the perfect fit for Ashley & Co in Australia. Life Instyle is far more compatible with our brand and market. Hopefully we were easier to find also!
The level of design and professionalism at Life Instyle blew us away and we ‘re so pleased that we made the jump across.
- What should we expect from your business in the future?
Hopefully you will be seeing a lot of us. We appreciate that we are the little fish in a big pond, but that truly excites us. Our main aim is to be in the best independent home and gift retailers around Australia. Retailers with a large social media presence and following are a bonus giving us a fantastic reach and credibility in Australia and abroad.
The future will see Ashley & Co build towards becoming a true lifestyle brand. Through a variety of initiatives and campaigns, we want our customers to engage, share and become a part of our growing Ashley & Co society. Look out for us at your local cafe or restaurant. “Handful” has been designed and created for industry to support our retailers. Having customers use our product on a regular basis is our way to create awareness, develop further reach and convert people to our way of thinking – transforming an overlooked daily routine into something memorable and enjoyable.
- What is the one bit of advice you would give to any creative out there looking to start up their own business?
Do something that you are passionate about. Find your point of difference and what sets you apart. Engage with your customers and never just settle!
- What is your definition of Happiness By Design?
