Exhibitor Spotlight: Moyarta

We sat down with Life Instyle exhibitor, Moyarta, to learn more about their business and what you can expect to see in Melbourne.

Tell us about Moyarta…
Moyarta is all about elegant entertaining. We love to entertain and create beautiful tables for all sorts of occasions and its been a long time passion. Our collections of hand embroidered dinner napkins coordinate with our easy care placemats and napkin rings and have been designed to make entertaining elegant yet still easy and fun. Our philosophy when creating a gorgeous table is to start with basic white and build from there using glassware and accessories to build a theme around the table. The colours and possibilities are endless. We believe that setting a beautiful table does not have to be reserved only for special occasions. With the right napery and accessories, even casual dining can still be elegant and that’s what we are all about.

What path bought you to Life Instyle?
Since we launched our first small collection of dinner napkins last year, all roads seem to have led us to Life Instyle and we are thrilled to be exhibiting for the first time in Melbourne. Life Instyle was mentioned to us several times right from the beginnings of our business and once we had visited the fair in Sydney last year, we just knew we were on the right path.

A typical day at work involves…
Our mornings typically start off in the office with answering customer enquiries and filling orders. We also typically spend part of each day working with our suppliers and crafts people overseas and fine tuning all the little details that go into building the collections. You can usually find us surrounded by colour charts, paint samples and of course piles of interiors magazines.

My style is best described as
Having lived on America’s East Coast for over ten years, and working in events, the passion for setting the table grew enormously. We quickly realized that creating a beautiful table for any occasion is easy with the right accessories. Our style is elegant yet simple and uncomplicated.

I live my Life Instyle by…
Always setting the table and making any event an occasion in doing so. Even casual get togethers can still be elegant and stylish without a lot of fuss.

Favourite piece of advice…
Believe that everything happens for a reason.

If I wasn’t doing this I’d probably…
Be living on Nantucket and writing a book ( probably about entertaining! )

Brands I admire include…
Martha Stewart, Chanel, Virgin and Apple for the branding. Camilla for the luxurious colours and fabrics.

My workspace is…
Shared with my husband and his business and we have very different styles in terms of office décor so there is a certain element of his side/her side. One thing in common throughout the whole space though is lots of organized piles. Just more colourful piles on the Moyarta side though!

I get my best business ideas by…
Networking with other business owners and creative people, reading and browsing through interiors magazines and blogs and of course travelling.

The biggest influence in my business life is…
My father. Although he is not here anymore, I will always remember his advice and his business style. In fact, Moyarta is named after his childhood family home.

My dream business mentor would be…
I would have to say, Martha Stewart. Not only because she is the quintessential hostess but because she is a phenomenal brander. She’s built an empire through her ability to brand everything from dinnerware to paint and furniture to glitter.

Right now I’m working on…
A brand new collection of napkin rings that will be presented at Life Instyle for the first time. I can’t wait….

My biggest goal for the next 12 months is…
Now that I have established the foundations of the business and learnt so much in the process, I want to concentrate on improving our operations and building our unique brand awareness.

In five years time I’ll…
Still be doing what I enjoy most and that is entertaining and dreaming up new ways to create beautiful tables. (Maybe with a bit more time for thinking about that book….)
