Rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit this morning as we introduce brand new exhibitor The Spa Beechworth. This Melbourne August at First Instyle make sure you pop by stand number F47 and see for yourself the incredibly decadent new range that combines the natural benefits and beautiful aromas of Australian plant based ingredients with a mix of pure essential oils that are not only good for your well-being but also the planets.

Life Instyle: What is the 15 second elevator pitch that defines your business?
The Spa Beechworth is a unique allergy friendly range, containing no gluten, nuts, seeds or dairy that is earth-friendly and encourages self-care. We use no nasties and our products are hand made with love.
The theme for Life Instyle Melbourne this season is Return to the Source, what does this mean to you and how did your story begin?
Return to the source really resonates with us, but the message isn’t a new concept to my ears as it’s the way I have always operated my business. In our spa we are low-tech and high touch meaning we don’t rely on machinery to deliver what human touch can. We have approached our body care range this way; we have utilised natural ingredients from as close to their origin as we can and used them in a way that gets results without the need for chemicals. We’re going back to nature, and taking a second look at what it can provide.

Life Instyle: Where do you find inspiration?
Our guests at the spa have been one of the driving forces behind the creation of the range, they are the best source of feedback we could ask for. We listen to and learn about each and every person that walks through our doors and use this information to fill gaps that we discover. In this instance, the gap was for an allergy friendly but beautiful bodycare range. My son being diagnosed with various allergies and intolerances was the final push I needed to bring the dream into reality. Ill health and disease have also played a constant role in my inspiration, in particular mental health because we don’t look after ourselves in our business worlds. I want to inspire people to find self-care rituals. My motto is if you can’t get to a spa bring the spa to you with small moments of self-care often!

Life Instyle: What was your biggest challenge when starting your business and how did you overcome it?
Firstly, you need to know with certainty that you have a product that’s worth pursuing and then having the courage to trust yourself to follow your path even when it has a lot of bends or cross roads. The majority of my milestones, in hindsight, that have had the greatest resistance have usually been my greatest teachers; that perhaps if I wasn’t being so stubborn there may have been better ways with less resistance, and the resistance was my intuition trying to lead me.
The biggest lesson I believe I have learnt is trusting the inner connection with myself that lets me know that you I on the right path. What will be will be.

Life Instyle: What was your best YAY US! moment?
I like to think of everyday as a YAY US! Moment or milestone because just being is business takes an enormous amount of energy, and I prefer a daily nurturing approach of acknowledgment because sometimes high achievers often fall short of recognition as we are always looking to the next.
Through my daily gratitude practice I reflect on the little moments from my day, that in their entirety give perspective of all the milestones such as simple things like completing todays tasks, filling orders on time or hearing feedback. These are my reinforcing messages everyday.
My favourite time of the year is celebrated when we bring our team together and we take the time to reflect on the year that’s been. Collaboratively they are my yay moments.

Life Instyle: What advice would you give to a new designer/retailer reading this post?
Love what you are doing, find your point of difference and don’t let anyone shake, change or move you away from your idea. Sit with all decisions and have the courage follow your natural instinct.

Life Instyle: Where do you see the future of retail heading?
I often hear people say that online will kill retail which could be true but in my heart I believe the future of retail is in exceptional customer service. It’s become too easy for us to be dismissive or unattainable to people but when we are real and allow people to integrate with us retail will always have a place. At the end of the day, you can’t touch, smell or experience a product online. Instead, we need to go back to basics, people will always spend a little extra for personal care and an experience.

Life Instyle: What would a tarot card reader find in your future?
Our future holds delivering a strong self-care message that helps overcome disease and mental health that’s is debilitating our world today.

Life Instyle: How has your business grown over time? Where did you start and where are you now?
The range was originally designed to be used in the spa only, but when people started experiencing it in treatments we were approached and asked for it to be made widely available, so here we are – we’ve taken the leap, and now we proudly offer our range for wholesale.
Our product has found its own journey because there was demand and a need, and we proudly fill that gap.

Life Instyle: What should our visitors be expecting to see from your brand at Life Instyle Melbourne 2016?
A body and lifestyle range that’s allergy friendly, price driven, sensory, that has a strong ethos around self care. We’ve thought outside the box and sourced unique ingredients that are beautiful to use and good for you skin.
