We see nothing but triumph for the boys at Triumph & Disaster. Their philosophy is to use the best of science combined with the best of nature to produce naturally derived but scientifically engineered products that work to the Men of the world. Today we chat with Dion, the founder of Triumph & Disaster about all things MANscaping!!!!
- How did the inception of your business come about?
As a professional sportsman much of my youth was spent outside exposed to sun, wind and sweat, sometimes all at the same time. Because of this exposure I have always been acutely aware of the effect that the sun and our environment has on our skin and consequently the way we feel. Through a process of trial and error I have developed and evolved my own ideas on what men need in their grooming products. By working with a great team of chemists and a world class perfumer we have brought these ideas to life and developed a brand for men and women alike who want clean, healthy, vibrant skin & men who want a close, clean shave who want to feel great about their grooming routine.
- What made you want to exhibit at Life Instyle Sydney 2016?
Life Instyle has a great reputation as the premier trade show for up and coming brands, and draws a crowd of buyers from the best home and lifestyle retail stores, with a couple of fashion stores in the mix too. To have the chance to catch up with these people and have them engage with our brand in a setting that is ‘Triumph & Disaster’ is a huge asset, allows us as a brand to grow our foot print in a considered nature and catch up with a few retailers and exhibitors we don’t get to see enough (Hunting for George, we’re looking at you!).
- What should we expect from your business in the future?
More of the same in a way. We do have a bunch of exciting projects in the pipeline. We have a dopp kit and field kit about to launch which are both killer. Apart from these its mostly small line extensions to round out the performance side of the range and to fill a few gaps we see our customers would benefit from. I could be more specific but that might be giving too much away, too soon – so stay tuned.
We will continue to focus on natural and communicating our beliefs in that space. We also have a new video to release later this month so keep a look out for some of the content side of things in the year ahead.
- What is the one bit of advice you would give to any creative out there looking to start up their own business?
Don’t listen to anyone (well certainly don’t listen to everyone) and follow your gut, but be prepared to think on your feet and box clever and just go for it.
- What is your definition of Happiness By Design?
The rear end of a 72 Camaro, an omega speedmaster and crystal tumbler of Negroni.
Preferably seen, worn and drunk simultaneously.
