When you only have one week in Paris how do you decide where to go?
I have the lovely Charlotte from Haute Curiosite to thank for sharing her secrets. (Charlotte runs vintage flea market tours of Paris too). After walking for hours getting lost in the lovely little laneways of Le Marais I arrived at my final destination. Merci, at 111 Boulevard Beaumarchais Paris, is a concept store with a difference. Wall to wall interior heaven, vintage books, accessories and fashion all housed in one amazing tri-level warehouse space. You can even buy kitchen accessories and candles downstairs and stop for lunch. I went absolutely crazy over the lighting and decor on the sun-lit loft floor and would have loved to ship everything home. Sigh. I needed a coffee to calm myself down from the excitement. The cosy book corner on the ground floor houses a divine book cafe where you can peruse the extensive French and English book selections while you sip on minted water and Cafe Creme . Some of the profits go to charity too and some very high profile designers have joined forces (Stella McCartney, YSL) which makes me love this place even more. Having so many gorgeous French designs in one place, and a cosy corner to retreat to in ‘post shopping haze’ is my idea of the perfect Paris afternoon. Merci Merci!
You can find plenty more pictures of all the wonderful goodies at Merci on eat read love and loads of French style inspiration from my recent trip to Paris and the beautiful Basque Region.
