Opening their doors in 1968, the OPUS store was the new kid on the block in the Sydney suburb of Paddington.
47 years on and the “gift gurus” are still owned and operated by the Tass and Tourgelis families proving time really does fly when yu are having fun!
OPUS is all about celebrating design, style, quirkiness and fun while staying affordable and accessible.
They are now the proud owners of a new Mega Store at 354 Oxford St Paddington in Sydney and is easily Australia’s leading Gift Emporium and is recognised on an International level.
The new store also incorporates OPUS Design Co on level 1. ODC is a beautiful furniture and design store. ODC retains the OPUS ethos of being eclectic and daring and it’s a great place to find a special accent piece of furniture or beautiful artwork.
As well as the OPUS store the Tourgelis family also operates another unique gift store. Launched in 2002, OCTOPUS Design in Newtown is bold & brash with just the right amount of hipster cred. It is our cheeky little sister store and it already has a very strong and dedicated following in Newtown and beyond.
Chris Tourgelis is the Director of OPUS Design PL which celebrates its 50th Anniversary in the gift industry in 2018. Chris has been leading the OPUS business for 20 years and in that time he has pioneered gift retailing in Australia. Chris currently oversees two stores, an online store and also a gift design, manufacturing and wholesale business.’
