When fashion & chemistry collide, the beginning of a beautiful evolution forms in Alchemy Produx. Today we chat to Tristan and Sara from Alchemy Produx about how the fusion of their backgrounds in fashion and chemistry created this incredibly luxurious scent company which has been adopted by fashion power house GORMAN to create a signature scent and what they have planned for the future.
- How did the inception of your business come about?
Alchemy Produx is almost 5 years old, it came about when I was making candles in jars for use at home, Tristan who was a Chemist at the time brought a beaker home from work for me to experiment with, the candle looked amazing and our brains started ticking! I was working as a fashion designer at the time and was able to use my design skills to develop the concept into a sellable product, the unlikely combination of our back grounds brought about the beginning of Alchemy Produx.
- What made you want to exhibit at Life Instyle Sydney 2016?
We luckily got a last minute stall at the fair in Sydney, we had just got back from a fair in New York and were on a roll to keep going, we had new product, all the marketing material prepared so we decided to give it a go. Also a few months before Life Instyle Tristan had joined the AP team full time and we thought it would be a great opportunity for him to meet all buyers and stockists in person.
- What should we expect from your business in the future?
Alchemy Produx is largely based on the concept of laboratory glassware, we would like to start developing new lines of products that steer away from our original concept however still keeping within the style we have created at AP with minimal and industrial influences.
- What is the one bit of advice you would give to any creative out there looking to start up their own business?
Find a mentor. This was a massive changing point within our brand; a great mentor will help give you goals and motivation to reach their level. A good mentor will also give you the tips to help get you there.
- What is your definition of Happiness By Design?
A well designed product should make each day a bit easier and more enjoyable.
